Born on October 4 1953, in Yerevan. In 1971 she left Yerevan N 76 secondary school with a golden medal entering the same year Yerevan Medical Institute and graduated from it in 1977 with Excellency. The same year M.Safaryan continued her post graduate study in the department of “therapy”. Completing it in 1981 she protected candidacy thesis in “Therapy” specialization. From 1980-1985 M.Safaryan worked in the department of therapy as a scientific employee in 1985 she worked in the department of tuberculosis as an assistant. Since 1993 M.Safaryan has been working as a professor, managing the department of pthyziopulmonology starting from 1994. In 1992 M.Safaryan took her doctor degree in phthisiology specialization at “Tuberculosis central Scientific-Research Institute” (city of Moscow) In 2002, RA HEE approved her scientific degree as a professor.
M.Safaryan took part in scientific meetings held in various countries of Europe more than once. With the aim of holding seminars for medical staff and tuberculosis service supervision purposes she was sent to official journeys to various countries as a “Health Care World Organization” consultant.
From 1993-2004 M.Safaryan worked as RA Ministry of Health chief specialist in phthisiology section. In 2009 she was reappointed in that position. Since 1996 M.Safaryan is “Armenian phthisiologysts association” chairman together with scientific council member, in doctor thesis protection section, of “Health care National institute” RA Ministry of Health. In 2001 M.Safaryan was appointed Republican antituberculosis dispensary clinic chairman position, assuming medical activities sphere.
In 2007, by competition she was appointed as RA MoH “Republican anti tuberculosis dispensary” CJS company director. In 2012 M.Safaryan she was reappointed to this post.
M.Safaryan is the author of more than 200 scientific articles and handouts in phthisiology and pulmonology section. She has 4 copyrights 4 solo researches in Armenian, and a text-book for medical university students.
Five candidacy thesis were protected under her own supervision.
In 2011 M.Safaryan graduated from university “Enterprises economics and management” department, getting the qualification of an economist.
The professor is also “Problems of tuberculosis and lungs illness” professional edition editorial council member, holding the position of “Armenian phthisiologysts association” chairman since 1996.
On September 21 2011 M.Safaryan was rewarded “Well- deserved doctor” honorable title by RA president.
In the years of 2001 and 2010 she was rewarded with Yerevan state medical university golden medal. In 2003 M.Safaryan was rewarded with RA MoH award. In 2004, by “Russian Natural Sciences Academy” guidance M.Safaryan was rewarded with Robert Kogh medal, in 2005 she was rewarded with Yekatirina the Great medal. In the same year M.Safaryan was rewarded with RA MoSaE (Ministry of Science and Education)
