PM Receives Women Community Heads and Female Members of Aldermen Councils

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received urban community council women leaders and female members of aldermen councils.

The meeting took place at the initiative of RPA Women’s Council, Association of Women with University Education NGO and UN Development Program Coordinator. Congratulating those present on women’s holidays season, the Prime Minister highlighted the role of women in the country’s political, economic and social life.

Hovik Abrahamyan considered it important to ensure women’s involvement in different areas of activity, including in local government bodies, as well as raising the role of women in public life. “Our efforts will be aimed at increasing the consistency of your participation, increase your involvement our country’s political and economic life. Our support will be visible to you in this matter,” Hovik Abrahamyan emphasized.

Then the Prime Minister answered several questions of interest to women leaders, which related to the activities of local government authorities, the existing problems and ongoing steps, as well as the efforts aimed at increasing the role of women in local self-governance.

Stressing the importance of balanced regional development, the Head of Government noted that the Government is implementing consistent steps mediating a wide array of programs in order to gradually solve the problems faced in the regions.

The guests thanked Hovik Abrahamyan for a warm reception, congratulations, outspokenness and answering their questions. An arrangement was made to hold such meetings on a regular basis.
