Galust Sahakyan Receives MPs from Bundestag

On August 29, the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received the delegation led by Albert Weiler, Bundestag MP and President of the German-Armenian Forum.
Welcoming the guest, Galust Sahakyan highly assessed Albert Weiler’s contribution to the further deepening and development of interparliamentary and interstate relations between the two countries.
The Head of the Parliament evaluated the intensification of cooperation and contacts between the RA National Assembly and Bundestag. The National Assembly Speaker welcomed the endeavours of the German side aimed at the promotion of the regional cooperation, sustainability of peace and stability, formation of atmosphere of confidence in the region. In this context Galust Sahakyan highlighted Buntestag MPs’ visits to Artsakh.
Galust Sahakyan expressed gratitude to the German Bundestag for adopting the bill on June 2, 2016 condemning the Armenian Genocide. “I am confident that only through recognition and condemnation of this kind of crimes it is possible to prevent their repetition in the future”, - mentioned Galust Sahakyan.
Albert Weiler, thanking for the reception, attached importance to his visit to Armenia after the adoption of the bill condemning the Armenian Genocide. Touching upon the bilateral relations, the Bundestag MP emphasized the mutual visits, the deepening of relations between the two countries especially in the economic sphere. Referring to the regional issues, Albert Weiler noted that Germany strives in its turn to do its best for the maintenance of regional peace.
The parliamentary President expressed confidence that by the support of Mr Weiler the traditional warm relations between Germany and Armenia will continue and further develop.
At the end of the meeting the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan awarded Albert Weiler the RA NA Honorary Medal for his significant contribution to the intensification of the Armenian – German relations and advancement of interparliamentary ties.
