In 1990-1995, the RPA was represented in the Supreme Soviet by one deputy, Ashot Navasardyan. In the Supreme Soviet, the RPA put forward a number of legislative initiatives, particularly its own version of the Independence Declaration, some parts from which were incorporated into the Independence Declaration. The RPA was the first to propose a draft law on the Armenian National Army. The RPA made proposals on the RA anthem, banner and national emblem. The RPA suggested to deem null and void the 1921 Russian-Turkish Treaty, to recognize the 1915 Issue on state level, and to raise it in international bodies. The recognition of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic has been repeatedly proposed.
