Born on 25 July 1975 in Yerevan.
In 1998 graduated from the therapeutics faculty of the Yerevan State Medical University.
In 2000 graduated from clinical residency of YSMU, major in judicial medicine.
In 2005 finished the Moscow School of political researches under the Council of Europe.
In 1999-2003 was a Chairman of the Student Council of the YSMU.
In 2002-2005 worked as an assistant to the rector of the YSMU.
Since 2005 works as an adviser to the rector of the YSMU.
Since 2003 is an assistant at the department of biochemistry of the YSMU.
Since 2002 is a member of the Republican Party of Armenia.
In 2003-2005 was a Chairman of RPA Youth Organisation.
Since 2005 is a Deputy of National Assembly of RA of third convocation (No. 060 electoral district).
Member of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Healthcare and Environment, as well as of RPA Faction.
In 17 December 2005 (9th convocation of RPA) was elected a Board Member of RPA.
Has a PhD degree in Medical Sciences. Author of 20 scientific theses and articles. In 2004 the first collection of poems by A. Ashotyan was published.
Married, has one child.
