Born on 20 January 1961 in Leninakan in a worker’s family.
In 1984 graduated from Kirovakan technical school of trade and economy, Shirak university of economy and management. Obtained higher economical education. Since 2003 studies at the Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute after M. Nalbandyan.
In 1984 worked as a commodity expert at the trade department system of Leninakan.
In 1988 took part in the liberation movement of Arcakh.
Since 1994 till now is engaged in farmers' activity.
In 1999 was elected mayor of Gyumri, in 2002 and 2005 was reelected in that position.
In 2002 was rewarded with “Golden wreath” of the Olympic commettee of RA. In 2004 was granted with the honorary title of professor of the armenian department of natural and social sciences. Was rewarded with RF medal “15 anniversary of the earthquake in Armenia”. In 2006 was granted with “Nansen” medal, with the medal of the Prime Minister of RA on the occation of the 15th anniversary of Independence, with “Hakob Meghapart” medal for the contribution to development of Gyumri. Was rewarded with “Anania Shirakaci” medal by the president of RA.
At the expense of his own resources he reconstructed “Saint Sign” church in Gyumri.
He is the author of the book “Archimandrites of the apostolic church against the sectarian errors”.
Since 2006 is a member of the Republican party of Armenia.
In 1999 was elected the chairman of the Board of the RPA regional organization of Shirak, a member of the RPA Board.
Married, has five children.
