President Serzh Sargsyan received the EU Special Representative Philippe Lefort

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the EU Special Representative for South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort.

The Parties noted with mutual satisfaction that in recent years the EU-Armenia relations have registered considerable progress. They stressed the importance of the advanced political dialogue and high-level reciprocal visits. With this regard, importance was attached to the forthcoming visit of the President of the European Council Heram Van Rampuy to Armenia. In the framework of the visit discussed will be the current process of the EU-Armenia cooperation and future programs. President Serzh Sargsyan and the EU Special Representative spoke also about the reforms implemented in Armenia through the assistance of the European Union.

Using the opportunity, Philippe Lefort congratulated President Serzh Sargsyan on the successful elections held in Armenia on May 6, 2012 and wished every success to the newly elected legislature.

Philippe Lefort noted that EU is greatly interested in the developments in Armenia and the South Caucasus region in general and within its capabilities desires to promote mutual trust among the countries of the region.
