 At the meeting with journalists the Chief Architect of Yerevan Tigran Barseghyan presented the programs implemented in the capital in 2013 and the urban development and architectural programs planned for the next few years and directed at Yerevan development.
Speaking about the programs planned for the next four years Tigran Barseghyan outlined the activities aimed at the realization of the projects General plan of Yerevan. As one of the most important programs of the Municipality the architect mentioned the process of working out a legislative package for the regulation of the construction development of the small center.
Within the frames of the activities directed at the reconstruction of transport and road network a number of steps are being taken in the direction of the construction of new by-pass roads, road junctions and parking places. Tigran Baeseghyan reported that the construction of the road connecting Isakov-Leningradyan highway with Arshakunyants avenue is going on.
Tigran Barseghyan also reported that in urban development projects special attention is paid to the programs providing availability of transport for the people with locomotor disabilities.
The process of improvement of yard areas including landscaping and construction of children’s playgrounds is also going on.
Referring to the issue of building of new blocks of flats with the aim of resettlement of the dwellers of emergency buildings the Chief architect of Yerevan mentioned the construction of the new buildings finished the previous year and said that the construction of a new building is scheduled for the nearest time and it will completely solve the problem of housing of the residents of emergency buildings.
Among the programs provided for the nearest years there are the construction of the Academy of the Organization of the Treaty on Collective Safety in Mkhitar Heratsi street and of the Academy of Management in Orbeli street.
In 2013 new monuments were installed too, within the frames of “Erebuni-Yerevan” celebration an exhibition of architectural draft proposals of the city development was organized for the first time. Conceptual competitions for the reconstruction of Republic square and five other squares in the administrative districts were organized too.
Tigran Barseghyan noted that activities were being carried out directed at installation of the monuments to duduk players Jivan Gasparyan, Vache Hovsepyan and Levon Madoyan in Abovyan street, to Marshal Bghramyan in the administrative district of Avan, monuments to Garegin Nzhdeh and Karen Demirchyan, to Yervand Avetikyan,as well as the monuments to Silva Kaputikuan, Grigor Narekatsi, Jivan, Hrant Shahinyan and Kim Yeritsyan.
The Municipalities of Yerevan and Moscow plan to announce an open architectural competition for the construction of the fountain of friendship in Russia square in Yerevan.
Concerning the issue of the construction of the circus the Chief architect said that the work is going on in accordance with the determined schedule. The reconstructed circus will be able to place 2200 spectators.
