PM Visits Armenian NPP

 Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited today the Armenian nuclear power plant (NPP).

The Premier was briefed on NPP operations, work on extension of NPP operations and safety improvements, as well as the upcoming activities and projects.

The plant will be brought to a standstill for a period of 6 months in 2017 in order to implement activities aimed at extending its operations until the year of 2027.

Then, the head of government called at the Yerevan combined cycle steam-gas operated power plant. Commissioned as early as in 2010, the plant had produced over 7.5 billion kW/h of electricity for the domestic grid by this April 30. Nearly 1.3 billion kW/h of electricity is generated in the plant annually, part of which is exported to Iran.

The Yerevan steam-gas plant’s installed capacity is 271, 7 Mw. It is furnished with modern equipment and technology. In the coming years, another such facility will be built next to the existing plant.
