In particular this time we set a goal to restore the green areas damaged by the fires caused by summer heat this year. So, we are planting trees in the burnt area of Tsitsernakaberd, in Botanical garden as well as in the forest area of “Paros”. Besides, we enrich with trees the newly-formed parks an squares, as well as this park after the national hero Tatul Krpeyan which we handed to our residents this September. By the way, this year we have created more than 6 hectares of green areas among which are this park and the park after one of the fallen azatamartiks of Artsakh war, Arthur Karapetyan. We also plant trees in yard areas”, said the Mayor.
Totally more than 20 thousand trees and bushes are to be planted during the autumn tree planting. Yerevan Mayor set a clear task before the persons in charge: tree planting is to be carried out only in the areas where irrigation is provided.
“Together with the spring tree planting we totally have planted 55 000 trees and bushes. Their care is certainly very important that’s why we plant trees only in irrigated areas. From year to year we expand irrigation systems, in average every year we expand it by 20 km, and as a result today the total surface of public green areas is 860 hectares in comparison with the 845 hectares we had three years ago”, said the Mayor.
Attaching importance to the consistent policy of the city authorities aimed at green areas increase in the capital, the participants of the action thanked Taron Margaryan for the reconstruction of the park after Tatul Krpeyan turning into a comfortable recreation zone. the mayor in his turn called the residents to keep the city clean and treat Yerevan as a true host.
“It’s very important that the number of participants in tree planting and clean-up actions is increasing from year to year. It’s a special guarantee that the same organizations and individuals will take care of the green areas. And taking the opportunity I’d like to call all our co-citizens to preserve green areas, to keep the city clean. It’s necessary not only for ourselves but for the subsequent generations”, stressed Taron Margaryan.
The landscaping and improvement of the city’s entries is included in the four-year program of Yerevan development.
