 Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan participated in the solemn re-opening of the cultural center “Zeitun” subordinated to the Municipality of Yerevan. This cultural center designed by Alexander Tamanyan as far back as in 1950s hadn't been used for 18 years.Being included in the Municipality programs for 2012 by the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan the center of culture was overhauled completely and in the new academic year it is ready to open its doors before students, completely repaired and equipped with all necessary conveniences.Accompanied by the head of Kanaker Zeiutun district Taron Margaryan walked about the rooms, got acquainted with the work done. By the way, during his regular visits to administrative districts the Mayor visited the center many times and watched the process of overhauling.Within the framework of the overhauling program the separate classrooms for art classes were furnished with appropriate furniture, the hall and the stage were equipped with up-to-date necessary sound and light technical means. The present furnishing of the stage gives the opportunity to stage dance and drama performances, as well as to organize film shows.Congratulating the residents on the event of reopening the cultural center Mayor Taron Margaryan said that this unique Tamanyan's construction in the administrative district of Zeitun will serve the gratifying aim of getting cultural education by the younger generation.“This cultural center will serve not only the residents of Kanaker Zeitun district but also all the young art-lovers of Yerevan. This building constructed by great Tamanyan is stable and reconstructed today and we will hand it to the generation getting cultural education. The cultural centers have been at the focus of the Municipality programs in the recent three years. We had announced that serious overhauling was to be fulfilled in the center within short period and this promise is being gradually realized. I assure all the residents of Yerevan that such programs will be long-lasting in all the administrative districts and the problems set before us will be solved by the city authorities due to working day and night”, stressed the Mayor.For the contribution to the development and spreading of culture in the administrative district of Kanaker Zeitun a number of persons have been awarded with honorary and thanksgiving diplomas of the Mayor of Yerevan.The overhauled center of culture will make it possible to double, even to triple the number of children attending the classes.
