10.10.2012

On October 10 at the press conference the Head of the Delegation of the RA National Assembly to OSCE PA Artashes Geghamyan summed up the results of the Autumn Session of the OSCE PA, which was held in Tirana on October 5-7.

During the session Artashes Geghamyan has delivered a speech on the themes included in the agenda “Dealing With the Economic and Financial Crises” and “Promoting and Protecting Multi-Ethnic and Multi-Cultural Societies in the OSCE Region,” as well as has talked about the Hungarian-Azerbaijani disgraceful deal of extradition of the Azerbaijani army officer criminal Ramil Safarov, who killed with an axe the Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan while sleeping during the seminar organized by the NATO.

At the end of the Autumn Session the Head of the Turkish Delegation Emin Onen has presented a resolution concerning the developments going on at the Turkish-Syrian border, about which Artashes Geghamyan has expressed negative opinion, substantiating that the adoption of the resolution will never promote softening the already heated situation. “The Armenian Delegation cannot be indifferent with a simple reason that more than 85.000 Armenians live in Syria,” he has said. The speeches of the Austrian and Italian delegates have followed the speech of the Head of the Armenian Delegation, where it has been noted that the issue has not only a mission of establishing peace, so they have proposed to remain abstained. Delivering a speech on the matter second time Artashes Geghamyan has said: “If today, during this session, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly guarantees Armenians’ security, then after formulating it in the document, the Armenian Delegation will remain abstained.” It has been said that the resolution has not been put for voting and it has been announced that it is passed with consensus minus one.
